Installation types
The installation scenarios differ depending on whether you are installing IQ4docs for the first time or whether a current IQ4docs version is already on the server:

If no components of IQ4docs exist on the server yet, follow the instructions under Installing the IQ4docs Server System.

When updating, always leave all services of the system (especially the Firebird database) running when you start the installation process, otherwise many automated database actions cannot be performed. If the installer displays an Update button, use it.
If you want to update an existing IQ4docs version (older than version 4), first uninstall this version and then start the IQ4docs installer.

When moving to a new server system (for example new hardware), bear in mind that the activation is linked to the existing system. You cannot activate the IQ4docs license more than once.
If you want to move to new hardware, be sure to deactivate the license before moving. This can be done online. IQ4docs Admin connects to the IQ4docs activation server and deactivates the license. Here is how to reactivate the license for the new installation.
When activating the license, the database connection (hostname and path) currently in use for the activation procedure for IQ4docs Admin is relevant for the license. The hostname cannot simply be changed or replaced by an IP address.
Please note that a customer license can only be activated on one system and it must be deactivated online on the old server system before being moved to a new server system.

If you choose Change program, the component selection dialog box appears. All the features that are already installed are preselected. You can remove or add features. However, please note that important configuration files will remain intact even after removing a feature and will remain available for installing the corresponding feature again. This way, manual configuration changes remain intact.

When repairing an installation, all the files required for the corresponding installation are copied to the directory specified during the installation process once again. This makes it possible to add any missing files and to replace damaged files. Carry out a repair if installation files have been accidentally deleted or modified.

If you choose Uninstall, all features, and any changes made to the system in relation to these features, will be uninstalled. Just as when using Change, all important configuration files remain intact after the uninstall process.
